A Sign While Passing
Project type
Photography
Date
2021-2023
Location
Tehran,Iran
In this series, Milad Tower is not the destination of the photograph; it is something that appears along the way. Seen from behind the window of a moving car; from a distance; through traffic, dust, night, trees, stretched lights, and the fading colors of sunset; the tower is no longer simply an architectural landmark. It becomes a recurring sign within the memory of everyday life.
These images are not the result of a planned act of standing still and looking. They are born from passing through. From moments when the city is in motion and the eye has only a brief chance to recognize, frame, and remember. At times the tower is clear; at times it is blurred, hidden, or pushed to the edge of the image. Sometimes it is the only visible point on the horizon. Its presence feels both familiar and distant, like something that has always been there yet is suddenly seen again.
Through this repetition, Tehran is read through a single sign: a structure that emerges from distance, speed, pollution, darkness, and light. Milad Tower is not the center of the image but the center of a feeling, a feeling suspended between orientation and disorientation, belonging and distance, seeing and passing by.
