People in the city are rarely seen in full. Sometimes they appear only from behind a bright umbrella, through the blur of a moving street, beside a small table on the pavement, behind iron fences, or at the edge of darkness and light. They are seen before they are understood, and they disappear before they can become stories.
This series is not about portraiture in its traditional sense. The faces in these images are not photographed to introduce individuals, but to reveal a human distance a space between the photographer and the stranger, between recognition and anonymity, between a brief presence and disappearance. Each image offers a fragment of a life without attempting to complete it.
Black and white strips the city of its everyday certainty and gives it a more psychological atmosphere. Within this space, light, shadow, movement, and texture take the place of color. Bodies dissolve into motion, faces occasionally return the camera’s gaze, and simple gestures sitting, looking, laughing, walking become the emotional center of the frame.
In these photographs, the city is not merely a backdrop for passing people; it is a place where loneliness, contact, waiting, and anonymity take shape. Each figure comes close only for a fleeting moment, yet that moment is enough for something human to remain a quiet trace of vulnerability, dignity, and the fragile nature of presence within urban life.
